Long before Talent Collective began, and before we left the warm embraces of the 9-5, we felt the gap. On the one side, colleagues, peers and new grads were frustrated with the experience of being a candidate and job hunting; and on the other, executives and people leaders were frustrated with not being able to find good “fits” and hire for the critical roles needed to grow their businesses.
This gap…where company and candidate don’t really know what the other side wants was too frustrating for us to listen to anymore. Fuelled by a mission to bridge the gap between what candidates really want and what employers really need, we positioned Talent Collective smack in the middle.

That moment we knew what we were meant to do....
Crystal: I was on a flight bound for Boston, where I was going to have to terminate someone. I knew the person was a mis-hire from the get-go. I knew I was a mis-hire too. I was miserable. Values out of alignment, I wondered how I ended up in this moment, having accepted a role that didn't suit me at all. I realized I had been making the most important decisions in my career alone. I couldn't help but notice how many of us walk our career path alone and I knew I could, should and must do something about it.
Annika: When I started out my career in Canada, I thought I was hot stuff. Master’s degree, international work experience.... you name it, I had it. But was I ever wrong. With too much confidence, and not a lot of market research, I bombed my first salary negotiation. But I bounced back, learning negotiation strategy quickly and almost tripled my income within a few years. I also negotiated my high profile full-time job into a part time role, which gave me the flexibility to build my freelance business. I wish somebody would have told me how to negotiate beyond my salary... which is why I light up when I help our clients achieve their full compensation potential while educating startup founders how to build meaningful compensation packages.
